We’re Checking Out The Carpenter’s Shelter Of Alexandria,VA. First Off, I’d Like To Send A Congrats! To Fran Becker For Her 12 Years Of Amazing Service Toward The Carpenter’s Shelter, Ms. Becker Will Be Retiring From Her Post July 1st 2010. Secondly, The Carpenter’s Shelter Has Been Able To Achieve Something Very Special Through The Various Outreach Programs And Dedicated Staff That Helps Out All The Homeless Souls That Walk Through Their Doors. The Pure Dedication To Ending Homelessness Is A Task That Encompasses So Much, And Without The Carpenter’s Shelter So Much Of That Progress Would Have never Been Realized. I Grew Up In A Small Town That Not Many Folks Heard Of, We Didn’t Even Have A Gas Station, But Together As A Community We Came Together During Tough Times. In Another Small Town Called Ludington, Michigan A Community Mimics My Old Town In The Ways They Too Come Together. Located In Ludington Is An Organization Called C.O.V.E. – Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters. C.O.V.E. Provides Many Services To Battered, Distraught, Depressed And Even Addicted Women. They Offer Hot Meals, An Amazing Professional Staff And A 14 Bed Emergency Shelter For Those Need Immediate Refuge. They’ve Helped Over 5500 People Since 1979. Sometimes Having To Move Into A Shelter Isn’t About Being Homeless At All, Sometimes A Person May Not Be Well Enough To Take Care Of Themselves And Actually Go On To Seek Professional Help. In The LaSalle Gardens Section Of Detroit, MI There’s A Place Just Like That. It’s A Place Called The Coffer Adult Foster Care Center And Then Offer Three Warm Meals A Day To Adults Who Are Seeking The Refuge From Those Around Them And To Ascend From Dependant To Independant. This Is A Place Where One Can Go And Become Accepted And Embraced From A Warm, Caring, Professional And Loving Staff. Each Resident Has Their Own Private Living Space And Cable Access Television. Hey Folks, Today Our Journey Takes Us To Omaha Nebraska, And We’re Going Showcase The Siena Francis House. The Siena Francis House Reaches OUt To The Sick, Hungry And Homeless In And Around The Omaha Area Offering Food, Shelter And Open Hearts. The Shelter Is Primarily For Women Who May Have Been Abused Or Experienced Mental Difficulties Throughout Their Lives. The Wonderful Staff Organizes Events, Warm Meals And Clothing Drives For The Embattled Patrons Who Reside At The Facility.  ”With the assistance of the Sunrise Rotary Club and Toys for Tots, children’s toys, food, warm coats, scarves and gloves were distributed to the  people in the East Church Street neighborhood on Saturday, December19, 2009. In spite of cold temperatures and snow, many families  were lined up well before the announced 12 noon opening.  By the time all of the toys, food and clothing were distributed some  85 families, consisting of 145 adults and 185 children had received at least one toy per child as well as a food bag for each family.  For many of these families a spark of light and joy was kindled in an otherwise bleak Christmas“. – From http://www.christianshelter.org

As We Come To End Of Febuary, We Look At A Place Located In The Heart Of Los Angeles, California. As Most Of You Know  Los Angeles, CA Is A Very Diverese City With Some Of The World Famous And Some Of The World’s Down And Out People. There Are Rich Folks And Poor Folks, And Then There Are Found Folks And Lost Folks. Only One Thing Comes To Mind When It Comes To Bringing These Folks Together, And That Is The St. Francis Center Placed Right On Hope Street. Sounds Fitting, Doesn’t It? Rochester, New York Is Home To Not Only A Pretty Good American Hockey League Team Known As The Rochester Americans, But Also Home To The Open Door Mission. Do We Stay Pacific Or Shall We Come Back Atlantic? Do We Go A Little North Or Keep Warm In The South? I’m Thinking We Stick To West And See If We Know The Way To San Jose. Located In The Heart Of San Jose, California Isn’t Just A Hockey Team Called The Sharks, But Rather A Homeless Shelter Called – Family Supportive House, Inc. The Folks At Family Supportive House, Are Doing An Amazing Job, And I Think We Should Give Them A Hand. One Of Their Most Recent Projects Was Something Called “Fit Body Boot Camp”, Where For $25 Folks To Get In Shape And Help An Amazing Cause. Family Supportive House, Inc.
